Discover the Greening Initiatives of the Côte-des-Neiges SDC!

When summer arrives, it’s time for greenery! For several years now, the Côte-des-Neiges SDC has been carrying out a variety of beautification projects to enhance the neighbourhood for the enjoyment of local businesses and residents alike.

Whether you’re visiting, living, or working in Côte-des-Neiges, everyone gets to enjoy these improvements. Discover the initiatives that help make Côte-des-Neiges a greener and more beautiful place.

The hanging planters

Since 2022, hanging flower baskets have become a signature feature throughout the neighborhood. You’ve probably noticed them while strolling along Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges—these beautiful floral arrangements gracefully suspended above the street. Every spring, nearly thirty hanging baskets are installed on existing lamp post brackets and remain in place from May through October, adding color and charm to the commercial district.

But that’s not all! Since 2019, the Côte-des-Neiges SDC has been offering the “Adopt a Flower Planter” program. Participating businesses can adopt a beautiful flower planter and place it in front of their storefront to help green the neighborhood. Today, more than twenty planters brighten the streets and can be spotted throughout the district during your walks.

Every year, the Queen Mary Rest Area is transformed into a true urban oasis in the heart of this vibrant section of Côte-des-Neiges. Since 2021, it has offered visitors a refreshing place to relax—whether you’re waiting for the bus, taking a break between errands, or simply enjoying the nice weather. A favorite gathering spot among local residents, the area is adorned with flowers every summer, making every stop a little more inviting and enjoyable.

More recently, the SDC Côte-des-Neiges introduced a new way to brighten your walks through the neighborhood with its Summer Window Display Program. Inspired by the winter window displays many already know and love, these seasonal displays celebrate the colours and energy of summer through participating businesses. They bring joy to both merchants and residents while adding even more life and vibrancy to our streets.
