Mission of SDC Côte-des-Neiges

The mission of the Société de développement commercial (SDC) Côte-des-Neiges is to contribute to the economic and commercial vitality, visibility and visitor experience of the area, and to contribute to the economic, cultural and social development of the neighborhood in collaboration with local partners.

The SDC Côte-des-Neiges fulfills its mission by bringing life to the area, as well as developing structuring and innovative projects and events for the neighborhood, its merchants, professionals, visitors and residents.

Our commercial area

Our territory covers Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges between Chemin de la Côte-Ste-Catherine and Rue du Frère-André, including the commercial sectors of Gatineau, Lacombe and Swail avenues.

Be part of an SDC territory

There are about twenty commercial development corporations in Montreal. The SDC Côte-des-Neiges ensures the economic development, dynamism and influence of its territory in Côte-des-Neiges. To do so, it pilots and implements numerous projects for its member businesses.

Any company, organization or business operating within the boundaries of the commercial territory is automatically a member of the SDC Côte-des-Neiges. The direct involvement and participation of members is crucial to the success of these initiatives and to enhancing the quality of life in the area.

Members benefit from visibility on our website, on our social networks, in our monthly bulletin to members and in our newsletter to the citizens of Côte-des-Neiges. Members also have access to programs, tools and resources to support businesses, as well as access to services related to major SDC Côte-des-Neiges projects, and exclusive discounts with certain partners.

The SDC Côte-des-Neiges works with its members in the following five areas :

  • Development of the territory by responding to various issues and objectives
  • Promotion of destination and businesses through seasonal and promotional campaigns
  • Beautification through urban design and ground projects
  • Animating the neighborhood through signature projects throughout the year
  • Member support through various services and programs

In addition, members can attend and vote at general meetings. It’s also possible to run for a seat on the SDC Côte-des-Neiges Board of Administration, in order to play a leading role in strategic decisions that have an impact on neighborhood activities.

What is a cotisation?

In accordance with the Cities and Towns Act, members of a Société de développement commercial (SDC) are required to pay an annual membership fee. Payment of SDC dues entitles the member to vote at general meetings. Fees are calculated, issued and collected by the Ville de Montréal. Among other things, the amount is calculated on the basis of the surface area and floor location of the retail or business premises.
