Are you the type of person who spends hours in museums, wanting to know everything about the place where you live, or even the place you’re just visiting… any place at all, really? If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, then this itinerary is for you.
The cultural route starts at the corner of Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges and Avenue Lacombe. Head to Pub McCarold, the perfect place to fill your head! You’ll find a variety of pub-style dishes and a vast selection of spirits (beers, scotches, whiskeys, etc.). Still on Côte-des-Neiges, continue south to the Maison de la culture. Take your time to enjoy the current exhibits, and if the timing is right, you may have the chance to take part in the activities that sometimes take place there. The adventure continues on rue Jean-Brillant, then on Avenue Gatineau. Here you can admire a colorful mural by Italian artist Agostino Iacurci. The mural was painted on the Office municipal d’habitation de Montréal (OMHM). The next point of interest, the heritage Maison Simon Lacombe (also known as Maison Jarry-Dit-Henrichon), is located on Avenue Decelles, which you can reach via Avenue Swail. We then recommend a stop at the Duc de Lorraine. You can pick up a sweet for the road at Montreal’s oldest French pastry shop! Finally, head for Saint-Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal, from where you can gaze upon the city. You can even have fun spotting unique buildings like the giant Orange Julep’s giant orange.
