L2 Lounge has made a name for itself as the place to get the ever-more popular drink. First opened in Montreal-Chinatown (2003), it had become one of the city’s most popular destinations for bubble tea, a drink that was virtually unknown but has become the latest craze. On the bustling pedestrian street of de la Gauchetière West and up a flight of stairs is L2 Lounge where you’ll find friends chatting, groups sitting around with large glasses filled with drinks of every color and hue imaginable decking the tables. It is now expanding in different areas such as CF Carrefour Laval and others.
Bubble tea (also known as boba) is a Taiwanese tea-based drink invented in Taichung in the 1980s. Most bubble tea recipes contain a tea base mixed/shaken with fruit or milk, to which chewy tapioca pearls looking like bubbles are often added, thus became to known as “Bubble tea”. Ice-blended versions are usually mixed with fruit or syrup, resulting in a slushy consistency. There are many varieties of the drink with a wide range of ingredients.
